On 26-29 March 2010, Michael Hutt (Former Dean of Languages and Cultures), Bernhard Fuehrer (Associate Dean for Research), and Dr Ayman El-Desouky (Chair, CCLPS) were invited to the Research Institute of Korean Studies https://riks.korea.ac.kr/root (RIKS), Korea University in Seoul to join CCLPS Steering Committee member, Dr Grace Koh (Japan & Korea) to discuss and finalise an agreement on a joint 4-year interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research project on canonicity and canon-formation between CCLPS and RIKS. The project will involve collaborative research among scholars from SOAS, RIKS, and other institutions, and two symposia resulting in two edited monographs. The first symposium is planned to be held at SOAS in November 2011, with financial contribution from the RIKS.
During their visit to Seoul in March, Michael Hutt and Bernhard Fuehrer delivered lectures at the RIKS, and Ayman El-Desouky gave seminar presentations at Korea University and Sungkyunkwan University, interpreted and chaired by Grace Koh.
