The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) honoured the achievements of four leading international figures in human rights, law, journalism and the arts at its graduation ceremonies held on 20-22 July.
Film-maker Rithy Panh and linguist Herman Batibo were awarded Honorary Fellowships on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 July respectively. Human rights lawyer Baroness Kennedy QC was awarded an Honorary Fellowship on Friday 22 July, marking her last year as President of SOAS.
Zeinab Badawi, the highly respected radio and TV journalist, was awarded an Honorary Degree (DLit) on Thursday 21 July.
This year's graduation was the largest in the School’s history. More than 1,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded degrees, cheered on by close to 2,000 friends and family members, over the course of the three days.
