SOAS, University of London has been ranked 26th in the world, and sixth in the UK for Arts and Humanities in the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings 2013 – 2014.
SOAS received the highest overall score in the specialist institution category: ‘Unsung Heroes: Top Schools Outside the Rankings’. This category was created for institutions who are excluded from the rankings not because of their performance, but rather because of their unusual characteristics. In its category, SOAS was top in teaching and research specifically.
This follows news of SOAS being ranked in the top four universities in London according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2014 and QS World University Rankings, which place SOAS sixth in the UK for academic reputation. SOAS is also one of the most cosmopolitan universities in the world, according to the QS rankings, coming eighth globally for the percentage of international students.
Director of SOAS Professor Paul Webley said: "This is an excellent result for SOAS and a testament to our committed staff who are both making huge contributions to the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East and working to create the best possible student experience. This news also comes at a time when SOAS was ranked the top Bloomsbury university for student satisfaction, according to the Good University Guide, which includes all UK higher education institutions. It's a wonderful start to the 2013/14 academic year and we look forward to many more great achievements as the year unfolds."
