SOAS, University of London has been ranked in Europe’s top ten universities for Arts and Humanities, according to the 2014 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking, which ranked SOAS ninth in Europe and 26th in the world.
THE World University Rankings also scored SOAS highly for its international outlook (84.5 per cent). This announcement follows news of SOAS joining the global elite for Modern Languages in the recent QS World University Rankings by Subject, where it has been ranked sixth in the UK and 32nd internationally.
Director of SOAS Professor Paul Webley said: “It is excellent to see SOAS’ arts and humanities recognised as one of Europe’s top ten academic institutions. SOAS has the largest concentration of experts in Asia, Africa and the Middle East in Europe – the programmes we offer within our Arts & Humanities faculty, such as Anthropology & Sociology, History and Study of Religion have never been more relevant to students wanting to make a positive impact on today’s world. In addition, to be ranked sixth in the UK for modern languages in the recent QS further demonstrates both the excellence of SOAS teaching and our approach.”
