Ibrahim al-Koni, Libyan, is one of the most prolific writers in Arabic. He writes in Arabic even though his first language is Tamasheq. He has published more than seventy books, of which thirty or so are novels. He devotes his attention to the Tuareg life, culture and mythology in his desert fiction. Gold Dust is his best-known work in English.
