Payroll and Pensions

The Payroll and Pensions Team, which is part of the Human Resources Directorate, is located in room S324, Senate House (Paul Webley Wing).

The team is headed by the Payroll and Pensions Manager, Marie Stacey (ms10@soas.ac.uk, telephone 020 7074 5042).

The Payroll Team members are:
Natasha Williams - Deputy Payroll and Pensions Manager (nw19@soas.ac.uk; 020 7074 5040), Jan Williams - Payroll Officer (jw55@soas.ac.uk, 020 7074 5043) and Joanna Juzaszek - Payroll Administrator (jj4@soas.ac.uk, 020 7074 5041). Details of their departmental split of payroll responsibilities are available online.

Payroll Deadlines

The Payroll/HR processing deadlines can be found at the payroll deadlines for all staff document. Please note that, where payroll deadlines have not been met, the request will be actioned in the following month. Earlier deadlines will apply at Easter and Christmas.

Pensions

The School offers membership of two final salary pension schemes:

  • USS - Universities Superannuation Scheme - whose members are Grade 6 and above.

Pensions Auto Enrolment

Employment status of self-employed workers at SOAS: Guidance

Please visit Employment Status document which sets out guidance for managers in determining the employment status of current and future workers as to whether they should be treated as being either self-employed or subject to PAYE tax treatment and thus paid through the School’s payroll.

Cycle to Work Scheme

The SOAS Cycle to Work Scheme is available through a salary sacrifice/hire agreement arrangement. The scheme offers an attractive employee benefit and provides substantial savings on the cost of a bike and safety equipment.
