Our Head of Department says:
If you want to study (international) politics from a non-Western angle, this is the place to be! Our Department is home to an incredibly diverse group of scholars. Most of our academics speak one or more of the languages of the regions they study and have spent substantial periods of time in the countries of their expertise. This enables us to produce world-leading research, and it informs our teaching. Together with our students we explore politics in the rich and complex worlds of Asia, Africa and the Middle East, the issues cutting across these regions and how they connect with other parts of the world. We show that (international) politics has many layers, many faces, and the knowledge we share is critical, theoretical and hands-on. As such, we not only provide our students with the tools to understand the world, we hopefully also inspire them to make a difference.
"I also would like to assure you that our Department will run all our advertised degree programmes in the academic year 2020-2021. Covid-19 has brought about a period of global uncertainty, and we understand that a degree choice is one of the most important life decisions. Delivering a world-class education is first and foremost on our minds as we make preparations for next year. If you have any questions about our degrees, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us! Also have a look at these Frequently Asked Questions."
