Enrolment for returning students

Re-enrolment for Returning Research students

To continue your enrolment on the research degree, you are required to re-enrol at the start of each academic year. We will email you with details in the run up to the start of the new academic year.

This page is for returning postgraduate research students. Please see our separate page for returning taught students.

Online registration

Your invitation to re-enrol through online registration for 2019/20 will open from 9 September 2019, please click here to complete online registration.

If you have not received an email regarding re-enrolment, please let us know by using the online Student Information Desk (SID), select Request a Service and use the category of Enrolment and then "Online Registration Query" and we’ll check your current situation on our records.  Clearance for re-enrolment may be dependent on the submission of documentation to the Doctoral School section.  Progression to the next academic year may be dependent on this.

When you log on to register online, please make sure you complete the following steps:

  • Confirm My Details
  • Career Aspirations
  • Pay Fees

We’ll email you full details on how to complete these sections in the lead up to Welcome Week. Full details will be available on the Online Registration section of this site once the system is available, so check back regularly for any updates.

Enrolling in person

We have worked to improve the re-enrolment process for you this September. You will be asked to complete the online enrolment and fee payment processes as normal, but you will not need to complete enrolment in person at the Paul Webley Wing. All ID cards will now be at the Doctoral Research Centre Office for you to collect in person from 23 September 2019.

Please note that you must have completed online enrolment and paid your fees before you can collect your ID card. This also means that you must have completed your annual report form so that you have a valid enrolment record for 2019-20.

The office will be open between 9 and 5 in the week of 23 September.

What if I don’t complete enrolment?
If you don’t complete the online enrolment process at the start of the year – and you haven’t been given permission to interrupt your studies – we will withdraw you from the research programme.

NOTE: Students who are on overseas fieldwork between 23 September and 11 October officially approved by the Doctoral School must complete online elements of enrolment except for the in person (ID check) enrolment.

If you fail to enrol and you need a visa to remain in the UK, we are legally obliged to let UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI) know. For you that could mean having your visa curtailed and having to leave the UK.
