Note: Internal event not open to external attendees.
Staff in roles with responsibilities for planning for / supporting
submissions to REF 2021. This includes Heads of Department, Research
and REF Coordinators, Departmental Managers and Administrators, staff
in Research and Enterprise, Library and Information Services, Planning,
HR and Finance. Academic staff who will be included in the submission
may also wish to attend.
The session aims to provide attendees with an overview of the purpose
and general requirements of the Research Excellence Framework.
Attendees will be able to hear directly from HEFCE’s Deputy REF
Manager about the decisions taken to date, and the timeline to
submission and the programme includes a question and answer session.
The session will enable participants to understand:
The purpose and underpinning principles of the REF and its importance to Higher Education Institutions and the UK Government
The proposed changes to REF 2021 (compared to REF2014)
The background to and reasons for the changes
Further developments in progress
What will need to be included in a submission
The timeline for submission
