How do I find Funding for my research ideas?
There are many ways to search for funding opportunities but the simplest way is to log in to Research Professional with your SOAS ID and start searching. For advice on how to find the right funding opportunity for you see the User guide or speak to a Research Funding Officer. Alternatively, Research Professional have developed a new “research fingerprinting” mechanism so that when you log in using your SOAS ID, Research Professional knows what your research interests are and has automatically selected relevant opportunities.
If you already know which funder you are interested in then you can simply visit their funding pages. Our most common funders can be found at:
- AHRC (Arts & Humanities Research Council)
- ESRC (Economic & Social Research Council)
- British Academy
- Leverhulme Trust
- Horizon 2020 (European Funding. Including ERC and Marie Sklodowska Curie)
- Wellcome Trust Humanities and Social Science
The Research Funding Officers prepare a weekly bulletin of the best funding opportunities. You can view the latest bulletin on MySOAS (institutional login required). There is more information on upcoming funding opportunity deadlines on our Finding Funding page of MySOAS (SOAS username and password required).
The Research Office often hosts funder coffee mornings, funder visits, impact lunches and a series of workshops all aimed at increasing your awareness of suitable funding opportunities. Keep an eye out for the dates on our events page and follow the Research Office on our Twitter account @RO_SOAS.
