Support for SOAS Researchers

Internal Funding

SOAS runs a number of internal funding schemes to support research.

Seed Corn Fund

The Seed Corn Fund is run by the Research and Enterprise Office and seeks to provide ongoing support for School-wide initiatives in furtherance of the Research Excellence agenda. Specifically, it aims to support SOAS academics in both the following ways:

  • Provide start-up costs associated with the development of collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects, which would lead to applications for external funding.
  • Develop effective links with international research partners.

Impact & Knowledge Exchange Fund

The Impact & Knowledge Exchange Fund will provide consolidated support for knowledge exchange and impact-generating activities, ensuring that SOAS's world-leading research and expertise can make a difference in the world.

Open Access Publications Fund

The Open Access Publications Fund was created to support our research staff and PhD researchers in making their research outputs as freely and openly available as quickly as possible. You can find the Terms of Reference and application form on MySOAS.

UKRI Open Access Fund

The UKRI Open Access Fund also known as the Block Grant is here to support researchers funded by the Research Councils (AHRC, EPSRC, ESRC, NERC) in publishing via the Gold Open Access route. This fund can be used by both academics and PhD students who are in receipt of funding.
