Gillian Vogelsang-Eastwood is the director of the Textile Research Centre, Leiden and a specialist in Middle Eastern dress and textiles. She obtained her PhD from the Department of Archaeology, Manchester University. Dr Vogelsang-Eastwood worked for many years as a textile archaeologist in Egypt, before turning to more recent aspects of Middle Eastern dress. She is currently working on an encyclopedia of embroidery from the Arab World.
