SOAS Student Union activities
School of Arts students create, lead and participate in numerous activities organised by the SOAS Student Union and its many clubs and societies. The current Co-President of Activities and Events is School of Arts Music student Peader Connolly-Davey, and there are a number of arts-related societies for students to join, including the Anime Society, the Drama Society, the Musicians Society, the Photography Society, the Queer Film Society, the World Music Choir, and many others.
Awards and Prizes
There are a number of awards and prizes that School of Arts students are encouraged to apply for. Students who are enrolled in Southeast Asia's Art Histories modules are eligible to apply for a fully funded Annual Study Tour to European Museum Collections and Research Archives of Southeast Asian Art; second year Undergraduates and Postgraduate Taught Masters students in the Department of Music are eligible to apply for the John Taylor Music Travel Grants scheme; the Tessa and Anthony Brennand Memorial Fund provides travel funding for History of Art and Archaeology students to conduct their own original fieldwork research towards completing an Independent Study Project (ISP); and the Ralph Pinder-Wilson Award funds new student research into aspects of Islamic art forms. The School of Arts also hosts an Annual Photography Competition, for which Students from across SOAS are invited to submit entries.
