J. Daniel LUTHER completed their fully funded doctoral research at SOAS, University of London in December 2018 and is one of the co-founders of the international platform called ‘Queer’ Asia. Their doctoral research titled 'Queering normativity: Uncovering the invisible working of norms in South Asian public culture' examines the production and reiteration of normativity in subject-hood through cultural texts such as the works of Rabindranath Tagore, Chinese poet Feng Tang, the films of Karan Johar at Dharma, the novels of Prof. R. Raj Rao, new media, and popular cinema. They are currently also a Visiting Research Associate at Queer@King’s in King’s College London and are teaching in the Sociology Department at the University of Warwick. They completed their MA at the National University of Singapore in Literary Studies following a BA in Literature at the University of Delhi. Their research interests include Queer and Feminist Theory, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Post-colonial Studies, South Asian Film, Literature, Film Festival Studies, Asian Queer Cinema, Literature of the Asian Diasporas.
