The research project 'The Kurdish women's movement in Rojava: grassroots activism, political organisation and armed resistance' examines the political trajectory of female participation in the Kurdish movement in Syria's northeast between 2003 and today. Analysing everyday experiences of violence and resistance, it highlights patterns and processes of female mobilisation and participation in Rojava, addressing debates around gender and conflict, as well as gender and democracy / nation-building in Syria.
