Biography

Hamed Quisay is a life tenure Professor in Political science at the Faculty of Economics & Political Science, Cairo University. He is currently undertaking research on post-Arab Spring Middle East and the evolution of political Islam. His research interests include the nature of the state in the Middle East and its relation to society, the politics of Islamic identity, and the relationship between Islam and power.

He has over 50 publications in Arabic, English, Persian, Turkish and other languages. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at SOAS 1999-2003, and has taught at Cairo University, Zayed University, Qatar Foundation and SOAS.

He is currently director of House of Wisdom for Strategic Studies, the research committee chair for the Department of Public Policy at Qatar Foundation, a senior advisor at the International Centre for Strategic Analysis, a member of the International Middle East Association and the Centre for Middle East.
