Simon Perfect is a tutor in the Department of Religions and Philosophies at SOAS. He is the tutor for the undergraduate course Islam in Britain, which explores the historical and contemporary experiences of British Muslims from an interdisciplinary perspective. He is an Associate Tutor for the distance-learning MA Muslim Minorities in a Global Context. Simon is also a researcher at Theos, the religion and society thinktank.

His recent research focuses on issues related to religion or belief and freedom of speech in the university context. He is the lead author of the Theos publication Faith and Belief on Campus : Division and Cohesion. Exploring Student Faith and Belief  (2019, with Ben Ryan and Kristin Aune). He is also co-author for the book Freedom of Speech in Universities: Islam, Charities and Counter-terrorism (2020, with Alison Scott-Baumann).
