Biography

Natalia Zawiejska has written her PhD on identity in Angolan evangelical communities in Portugal at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. She conducted her fieldwork in Angola and in Angolan diaspora in Lisbon while working at the Institute of Social Science University of Lisbon. In 2015/2016 she was a lecturer at the Institute for the Study of Religion at the Jagiellonian University.

Research interests

Specialized in sociology and anthropology of religion Natalia Zawiejska's research is focused on the Lusophone world. She is particularly interested in globalization processes and transnationalization of Angolan religious institutions. She is also working with identity articulations in Angolan churches and religious communities within Angolan diaspora. Spatial approach to religion is her particular interest focusing on the postcolonial and secular and post-secular dimensions of the city.

Currently she is working on Angolan evangelical and Pentecostal churches in London, concentrating on patterns of contemporary Angolan migration, religiously articulated migratory experience and new dynamics of Lusophone churches in the UK.
