Biography

Elise Luhr Dietrichson is Research Associate at the Center of International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD). She completed her Master’s in International Studies and Diplomacy at SOAS. Elise has experience from the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), UN Women and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is also representing SOAS in the UN Gender Network, that aim to increase the share of women in senior UN posts, the network is based at the University of Reading and Durham University.

Elise, along with Fatima Sator, research associate at SOAS, is leading the research and advocacy on: "Women and the UN Charter", about the origins of gender equality in the UN. The mostly unknown contributions to gender equality in the UN Charter by female Latin American delegates and Bertha Lutz from Brazil has been featured in several media including the New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, Daily Mail and Le Monde Diplomatique.

Research interests

Elise Dietrichson research focus on gender equality, international diplomacy, the UN and how women from the South have contributed to international norm development. Her overall interest evolves around uncovering non-Western human rights norm protagonist.
