Christiane Hille is a historian of European visual art and material culture, with a focus on the arts of the Italian and English Renaissance, and a special interest in the history and historiography of painting in dynastic China. Her research is concerned with phenomena of embodiment and bodily experience in and through visual art and artistic practice. Her book Visions of the Courtly Body (2012) was awarded the Historians of British Art Book Price of 2014.
