Gabriela Marti completed her PhD in Law at SOAS, University of London. Her research project examined the legal regulation of Filipino and Indonesian migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong and Singapore and its effects in practice, with a specific focus on the access of these workers to the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining. In the course of her doctoral studies, Gabriela conducted extended research visits to East and Southeast Asia. Gabriela obtained her first degree in law ("lic. iur.") from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 2007. She later undertook a Master of Laws in Singapore. Gabriela is currently practising as a lawyer in Zurich, Switzerland. She has also been a research and teaching assistant at the University of Zurich. Gabriela has professional experience in the fields of migration law (including asylum law), labour law, contract law and company law. Her research interests are in the areas of socio-legal studies, comparative law, migration law, international labour law, and law and development.
