Biography

Nada is a full-time lecturer at SOAS School of Law. Nada’s research is primarily concerned with international law and the impact of international institutions - laws, norms and organizations - on developing countries. Her work is themed around governance, development and democratization and borrows from economics, political science and international relations. In her earlier work, Nada used game theory to gauge the effects of prosecutions by the International Criminal Court on internal political dynamics in developing countries. Sudan was used as a case study.

Nada conducted research on the construction of the Merowe Dam in Sudan for the Economic and Social Research Council and the Department for International Development. She was also a producer and scriptwriter on the 2019 film Merowe Dam: A Shattered Dream. She was recently engaged by the Economic Research Forum to advise on policy issues arising out of the ongoing Sudanese Revolution and prospects for transitioning to democracy.

In addition to her work on Sudan, Nada is interested in the politics of international criminal law and adopts a Third World approach to international law on issues of international criminal justice in the Global South.
