My research focus is on the connection between painting and ideology, which is more inclined to the study of the aesthetic nature of art than to the research path of art archaeology. My PhD dissertation, "Zen and literati painting of Song and Yuan Dynasties", mainly discussed how Zen ideology played its role in the formation and development of Chinese literati paintings. Meanwhile I’m interested in Ink Painting Creation because I’m teaching the students how to draw the Chinese Painting at the university where I work. My future research project is intended to focus on the reasons for the formation of the aesthetic character of Chinese painting itself, and the era of inspection may mainly covers the late Tang Dynasty, the Five Dynasties, and the Northern Song Dynasty.
