Biography

Originally from New England, Michael took a BA in Literature and Creative writing from the University of Maine.

After graduating from Lancaster University (MA Science and Technology Studies, Sociology Department, supervised by John Law) and from Queen's University Belfast (PhD History of Science, School of History and Anthropology, supervised by Peter Bowler), Michael worked with civil society on governance of science issues and then took up successive post-doctoral positions.

He worked first at the Center for Nanotechnology and Society – Arizona State University, and then with Global Health and Social Medicine - King's College London as part of the Human Brain Project, and finally with the BrisSynBio BBSRC/EPSRC Research Centre, Life Sciences Building, University of Bristol in liaison with the Social Science Research Group, University of the West of England. Michael has family in Northern Ireland and the USA.

Research interests

Michael Reinsborough’s research interests include social movements and technology, water history, and computational biology. Michael has been involved in EU and NSF funded projects on Responsible Research and Innovation.
