Biography

Prof. Ruth Ginio – Visiting Scholar 1.7.21-30.9.21

Ruth Ginio is Associate Professor in the Department of History at Ben Gurion University of the Negev. She is a historian of French colonialism in West Africa, and the author of two books -French Colonialism Unmasked: The Vichy Years in French West Africa published in 2006 and The French Army and Its African Soldiers: The Years of Decolonization, published in 2017 – as well as numerous articles and several edited volumes. Her current research is a micro history of French colonial expansion into West Africa based on the Podor Affair of 1890. She also works on murder investigations in colonial contexts and recently published two articles on the subject:
