Biography

Maria La Falce is an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Lecturer in the IFCELS Department. She specialises in the teaching of English for Politics and International Relations working on Essay Writing and Oral Communication skills development.

She has a Doctorate in Politics and uses her expertise in the subject to facilitate the understanding and production of Politics and International Relations to both national and international students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Maria has been teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students preparing them in the skills of essay writing, reading skills, seminar skills, oral exam presentations and dissertation research and writing.

She coordinates the Research Methods programme at IFCELS and is responsible for material design and teaching in various subjects which have included Politics, International Relations, Development Studies and History.

Maria also works as a lecturer on some programmes for international students where she specialises in Development and International Politics.

Maria also teaches on Pre-sessional and In-sessional courses. She specialises in Academic Writing, Dissertation Writing, Seminar skills and Presentation skills, and one-to-one tuition for Academic skills.

As well as specialising in Politics she has been supporting students in their language skills on Development Studies courses and History.

Maria studied Government and Politics at master’s level at the LSE and gained her doctorate in Politics at the University of Bristol. She has been teaching at SOAS for over twenty years and has gained expertise in many areas including latterly the development of online interactive self-study courses to accompany face-to-face online teaching.
