Biography

Mary was a post-doctoral fellow at Nanyang Technological University- Singapore in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences for 2 years. She has edited and contributed to Transnational Chinese Cinemas: Embodiment, Corporeality, Desire and the Ethics of Failure (Bridge21), currently in production. The monograph Gao Xingjian’s Post-Exile Plays:  Transnationalism and Postdramatic Theatre is under contract with Bloomsbury Methuen Drama and forthcoming in October 2015. She was a visiting lecturer both at Soas and Goldsmiths College.
Her research interest cross culture and disciplines and include: Comparative Literature; Theatre and Film Studies in both East-Asia and the West; Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature and Drama and Gender Studies. Her latest research projects focus on theatre and urbanization in Southern China and South-East Asia and female transnational stardom  in Sinophone countries.
She is, also, a theatre and book critic and has contributed to TLS, British Theatre Guide, Arts desk and Theatre Voice.
