Exchange rates

Please be aware that exchange rates change daily and are not in the School's control.  To convert to US dollars, for example, you will need to check the $Dollar to £Sterling exchange rate and to bear in mind that this will fluctuate during your studies. You should also allow for loan origination fees and bank charges which are levied when changing currencies.

How much should I borrow?

You should only borrow what you need and do not have to take the full cost of attendance. Remember that these are loans which you will have to pay back. It is possible to apply for additional money later in the academic year if you need it, up to the maximum cost of attendance. Please contact the Student Loans Officer - funding@soas.ac.uk before 25 May (during your year of study) if you need to increase your borrowing or request an additional loan.
