Hsieh Ming-yu will be singing some of his famous Hoklo numbers in this concert, and this would be a fantastic opportunity for people who are interested in Taiwanese popular culture, language and grassroots culture.

A Tainan native, Hsieh Ming-yu is a highly well-known singer-songwriter-producer who has penned songs for celebrity Hong Kong, Taiwanese and Singapore singers such as Andy Lau, Power Station, Anita Mui, William So, Kit Chan, Chris Yu and many others. Till date, he has composed a more than two thousand songs. In year 2000, after toiling for ten years in stressful Taipei, he gave up commercial music production and returned to his hometown, Tainan. He started pursing the carefree lifestyle of an “urban vagabond” and composed many more songs, inspired by his long strolls and conversations with neighbourhood eccentrics and artists in the laidback city. This refreshing turn has won him the “Best New Male Hoklo Singer” and “Best New Hoklo Album” awards at the 24th Golden Melody Awards in 2013.
