Synopsis

A minor structured notes dispute led sign-board worker, Chien Ming-fu to lose 2.5 million dollars, his life savings. Chien sought help from a public interest lawyer, Yeh Yuan-da, and decided to sue his Financial Adviser and the bank. Yeh was put in an awkward situation for his ex-wife was the bank’s chief legal representative. If he decided to take the case, he would confront her in court. On the other hand, Chien insisted on getting all his money back. Yeh understood the possibility of winning the case was small.

As the case developed, it seemed to tell us in the money pursuing world in this era, nobody’s a winner while fighting against the system.

Director's Bio

After graduating from the National University of Arts, Fann Yung Choung started his career making TV commercials. In 1999, he was invited to develop and produce Taipei International Film Festival’s program hosted by the famous film maker, (焦雄屏) Peggy Chiao. In the same year he also took part in Taiwan Public Television Service’s documentary, (電影天空) Cinema Sky, which introduced Taiwanese new film directors. He was in charge of planning, coming up with filming innovative ideas and co-ordinating and communicating in the filming process. Apart from doing film related projects, he also directed tens of well-known TV commercials, documentaries and music videos.

Awards:
In 2010 his first feature film, (那一年曾作錯的事) Mistakes Made in That Year, won Golden Harvest Awards for Outstanding Short Films’ best feature film and best cast performance.
In 2012 his film, (權力過程) The Will to Power, won Golden Bell Awards’
(1) Best Television Film
(2) Best Director
(3) Best Script
(4) Best Supporting Actor
And the best supporting actress in the Taipei Film Festival in the same year.
