The purpose of this research is to explore voters’ perceptions of the advertisements used in 2014 Taipei City Mayoral Election. Literature from audience research and brand studies are used to form this research’s overarching theory. The authors of this study conducted 12 in-depth interviews with floating voters. Interpretive approach was used to analyse audiences’ responses. The theoretical and managerial implications of this research are discussed.
Dr Norman Peng is Reader in Marketing at the University of Westminster. His publications have appeared in the Annals of Tourism Research, European Journal of Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, and International Journal of Hospitality Management.
