Abstract

In her talk, Gwen will walk her audience through a number of major social movements in Taiwan during former President Ma Ying-jeou's tenure (2008 - 2016), while also examining the Taiwanese civil society after President Tsai Ing-wen came to power.

Speaker's Bio

Gwen is a Taipei-based Ph.D. candidate of Political Science at the University of Warwick. Her research interests cover political communication, democratisation, ICT, and Taiwanese youth's political engagement. Gwen's interviews and op-eds on Taiwanese politics have been published on the China Policy Institute at the University of Nottingham, France 24, and the Ketagalan Media.
