Abstract

The talk will give some background and insight into the current Taiwan job market for expat talent. We will look at some of the options for foreign talent in terms of industry and function, compare and contrast a few different Asian markets as well as share tips on how to get on the career ladder here and progress over time. As well as giving the macro overview of the job market, we will go into details about things like visa, salary, culture etc. Of course, there will be a chance to ask specific questions pertaining to your own situation and job search.

Speaker's Bio

Alan McIvor is a Scottish headhunter who has been based in Taiwan for 12 years. Currently a partner in Paul Wright Group, he specializes in placing mid-to-senior level professionals into sales and marketing positions in Taiwan for a variety of different companies. Alan also lectures in a few different business areas such as; the job market for expats, cross-culture communications, management strategy, career advancement and international sales strategy. Alan is generally respected as a key opinion leader within the Taiwan business community and writes articles, appears on podcasts and gives speeches at networking events on a regular basis.
