Mandy Sadan is completing her doctorate at SOAS on the history and politics of identity formation among the Kachin of northern Burma. In the course of her research, she has studied Kachin textiles, and assisted in curating an exhibition of them, worked with photographic archives and collected oral histories. Mandy Sadan is the recepient of an AHRB Fellowship at SOAS and has recently published an essay in Burma: Art and Archaeology (2002). In the Tribal Transitions Project, she will conduct a study of objects from Arunachal Pradesh held in museums and other collections in the UK.
