Moji Riba holds a Masters Degree from the Mass Communication Research Centre in New Delhi. A film-maker by profession, on his return to his native state of Arunachal Pradesh he helped to establish the Centre for Cultural Research & Documentation in 1999, where he is now Executive Director. The CCRD is dedicated to the audio-visual documentation of the folklore and traditions of the many tribes in the state. Mr. Riba has directed twenty films on a various aspects of culture in Arunachal, including 'Between God & Me' .(1998) on the institution of the priest amongst the Adi Galos, and 'Prayers for New Gods' (2001), which explores changes in the practice of indigenous religion in response to global forces. His films have been screened in Mumbai and Kathmandu, Edinburgh and London; and they are frequently shown to local audiences in Arunachal Pradesh. Mr Riba will conduct field research and produce a series of documentary films for the Tribal Transitions project.
