The SOAS Bridging Courses enable students to make a flying start to higher education. They are free, last a week, and take place in September.
Widening Participation at SOAS
Who are the Bridging Courses for?
We offer two distinct Bridging Courses: one for students who are the first in their family to go to university or who grew up in an area where there is low progression to university, First Generation Bridging Course and another for Mature Students who are 21 and over.
We run the courses because we recognise that these students are less likely to have had access to the kinds of informal networks of information, advice and guidance that may support other students in the transition to life and study at university.
What are the benefits of attending?
By attending the Bridging Course, you will:
- Develop your study skills further
- Improve academic writing skills
- Meet other students in a relaxed environment
- Gain extra exposure to university-style teaching and learning
- Learn from and be inspired by current students who attended previous Bridging Courses
- Feel more prepared for your studies and university life!
