Are you a budding historian? Would you like to gain more insight into studying History at university from a global perspective? If you enjoy analysing facts and exploring sources then be a part of the SOAS History Online Summer School.

During the summer school you will have lectures by leading academics, debate key issues, engage in study skills sessions to sharpen up your critical thinking ability and find out about the UCAS process and how to make your personal statement stand out. You will also work with current SOAS students as well as getting to ask recent graduates about their experiences.

The summer school will take place online from 10.30am - 1.30pm each day. You can see a draft programme for the week here.

This summer school is for students in year 12 attending state schools and colleges within the UK. This is a widening participation activity designed to give students a first-class experience of study at HE level and we are only accepting applications from students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • First generation in family to attend university in the UK
  • Eligible or previously eligible for free school meals
  • Experience of local authority care
  • From an area of low progression to higher education (as measured by Polar 4 data).

There are a limited number of places available for the summer school and a mixture of academic and widening participation criteria will be used to allocate places.
