Are you a budding economist? Would you like to gain more understanding of developing and emerging economies? If you want to explore economics from outside the limitations of mainstream theory then the SOAS Economics Online summer school is for you.

During the summer school you will have lectures by leading academics, debate key issues, engage in study skills sessions to sharpen up your critical thinking ability and find out about the UCAS process and how to make your personal statement stand out. You will also  work with current SOAS students as well as getting to ask recent graduates about their experiences.

Please look at the programme for the summer school and make sure that you will be available for the sessions before submitting an application. If you have any concerns about this then please do get in touch.

This summer school is for students in year 12 attending state schools and colleges within the UK. We are only accepting applications from students who fulfil at least one of the following criteria:

  • First generation in family to attend university in the UK
  • Eligible or previously eligible for free school meals
  • Experience of local authority care
  • From an area of low progression to higher education (as measured by Polar 4 data)

This is a widening participation activity designed to give students a first-class experience of study at HE level.

There are a limited number of places available for the summer school and a mixture of academic and widening participation criteria will be used to allocate places.

To apply for the summer school please complete an online application form by Friday May 29th 2020. If you wish to apply to more than one summer school you only need to complete the application form once and indicate your order of preference.
