Biography

Che decided to pay homage to the one and only original homeland and chose to walk on the path of Imperial Chinese history during Bachelor, and was able to pursue research interest accordingly in Sun Yat-sen University during Master.

The abundance of historical resources in this renowned library has provided ample topics and areas to pursue, and Che eventually picked Ming dynasty eunuch research due to an unexpected encounter with a set of exotic and rare texts. Following the footsteps of several leading scholars on this mostly undeveloped field, Che aimed to fully exhaust the under-utilized exotic texts and bring the story buried within to light, intending to reshape the common preconceived ideas on Ming eunuchs that was heavily influenced by arbitrarily written historical records.

Deeply influenced by the mentors in different stage of post-graduate study that shaped the perspective on life and history, Che intended to pursue a career of research, and possibly teaching, after the long-anticipated graduation.

Research interests

Within the professional field, Che aim to continuing the discovery on potential case studies to reinforce the idea proposed in the Doctoral thesis. The preferred topic does not limit to eunuch and extended to the political structure behind, where all eunuchs and literati were employed. O

n the other hand, Ming literati’s self-contradictory views on eunuchs and unintentional leaks of their true perspectives were also a major interest. Outside of the professional field, Che is proficient on most Imperial China topics, while also holding interests on pre-Imperial China and Feudal Japan topics. Trivial but interesting historical legends are a constant interest point: while they may not be as research-worthy, they definitely worth a good read.
