About this event

Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu addresses the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and whether it is improving the recovery and return of stolen assets to countries of origin. 

Juliet is the former Director of Nigeria's Financial Intelligence Unit, the Assistant Director in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (2004 to 2016) and an adviser to the government of Nigeria from 2016 to 2023. In 2023, Juliet began doctoral research at the University of Sussex in the School of Law, Politics and Sociology (2023/2027). Her PhD research deals with international cooperation in the recovery and return of proceeds of crime with reference to Africa. Juliet is the founder of the African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery & Sustainable Development and the JC Ibekaku Hope Project.
