About

The College of Law, Anthropology and Politics is the largest college at SOAS. The scope of our teaching on Asia, Africa, and the Middle East is unrivalled in the UK.

Our College brings together scholars, students, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, fostering an environment where critical inquiry and intellectual curiosity thrive. We critically engage with the pressing issues of our time and our programmes reflect the unique research expertise of our academic staff and research centres in Gender Studies, Media and Communications, and International Studies and Diplomacy.

Our academics have spent substantial time in the regions we study and use it to inform quality teaching. Whether delving into the intricacies of legal systems, unravelling the complexities of human societies, or analysing the dynamics of political power, research at the College offers a unique lens through which to understand the world.

"At the College, you will receive an excellent education in the fundamentals of a given discipline while also exploring a wide array of critical approaches.

Across our departments, you will focus on the study of power, society, and institutions by drawing on detailed analyses from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. It will be a truly interdisciplinary and global education that reflects the unique experience of studying at SOAS."

— Dr Carlo Bonura, Senior Lecturer (Education) at the College of Law, Anthropology and Politics
