Graduation Ceremonies 2013
About graduation
When you have successfully completed your degree programme you may wish to attend a SOAS Graduation Ceremony. You do not need to do this to receive your degree, but many students enjoy the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with friends, family and SOAS staff.
This year there will be four ceremonies over two days. Each degree is pre-allocated to one of these ceremonies as shown on the schedule.
Date
The ceremonies will take place on Thursday 25th July and on Friday 26th July 2013.
Booking tickets
If you wish to attend, you must book a place for yourself and your guests.
The final deadline for booking is Friday 5th July 2013. You will not be able to attend if you have not booked.
We strongly recommend that you book as early as possible. If you are in your final year, you should not wait for your results. We will be happy to refund the cost of tickets if you or any of your guests are unable to attend, so long as you inform us before the booking deadline (see also the Refund Policy section below).
You can book places for yourself and up to two guests. If there are spare seats after bookings close, we will allocate additional guest tickets to those that made the earliest bookings.
Ticket cost £15 for graduands and £25 for guests. This includes the reception after the ceremony.
Guests without seats in the main graduation hall are very welcome to come to SOAS with you on the day of your ceremony. They will be able to watch the event by video link.
Please note that children under the age of 10 will not be admitted to the main graduation hall. They are however welcome to sit in the viewing suite if accompanied by an adult.
CeDEP Masters Graduands
Please note that if you are graduating from a CeDEP programme, you will not be able to book your tickets online. We have a manual system set up for these programmes and will email you a booking form on request.

Refund Policy
Requests made before 5th July 2013
If you purchase your ticket(s) and find that you are unfortunately ineligible or unable to attend, you must notify us by email on ceremonyrefund@soas.ac.uk as soon as possible to request a refund. You will be sent a form to complete to enable us to process this request as quickly as possible.
Requests made after 5th July 2013
Requests for refunds after the deadline for booking tickets (5th July 2013) should be made by email to ceremonyrefund@soas.ac.uk. However, we will not be able to guarantee a full refund as catering will have been ordered for you and we may not have the opportunity to offer your tickets for resale.
Each request will be considered on an individual basis and will be processed after the graduation ceremonies.
What to do now
- Book your tickets (CeDEP graduands must use an alternative system which has been provided by email) - Guidance Notes are available to be downloaded.
- Hire your robes
- Book photography
- Arrange travel and accommodation for yourself and your guests. You are strongly advised to book hotel accommodation, if required, as early as possible.

Please check the schedule of degrees being awarded at each ceremony to find out which ceremony you will be attending. Please also see the details below on when you must arrive by.
It is important that you allow enough time on the day of your ceremony for collection of tickets, robing and photography.
When to Arrive on the Day
Morning Ceremony Thursday 25 July
Registration opens 8:00am; Graduands must be seated by 10:00am.
Afternoon Ceremony Thursday 25 July
Registration opens 12:30pm; Graduands must be seated by 3:00pm.
