About

The College of Development, Economics and Finance brings together around 200 researchers who are exploring solutions to the most pressing social, economic and ecological challenges of our time.

At the College, we host several research centres and are home to dozens of externally funded research projects focusing on the political economy of institutions and governance, labour and social movements, inequalities and gender dynamics, migration and conflicts, climate change and just transition.

Our research is driven by real-world challenges, grounded in regional expertise across Africa, Middle East and Asia, and focused on solutions involving multiple actors. We host the Development Leadership Dialogue Institute to exchange ideas across government, civil society, corporate sector and trade unions, and build the development leadership of the future.

"Our community brings together a unique mix of specialised expertise and world-leading research in development studies, real-world economics and emerging trends in finance and management.

Our researchers are committed to disentangling transformations across the social, economic and ecological realms while being agents for sustainable change and social justice."
