Biography

Before joining King's College London, Dr Charlotte Goodburn was a post-doctoral researcher in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge. She completed her PhD in the Department of Land Economy at Cambridge, and holds a BA (in History) and an MPhil (in Contemporary Chinese Studies), also from Cambridge.

She studied Mandarin at Peking University and at Taiwan Normal University, and has spent several years working, studying and conducting fieldwork in China. There is a strongly comparative dimension to her work: she is interested in the political economy of a wide range of developing countries and in issues in politics, migration and development more generally. In her current work, she compares rural-urban migration in China and in India.
