ESRC Impact Acceleration Account at SOAS

SOAS has successfully secured an ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) for 2023-2028.

Co-managed by the SOAS Centre for Migration and Diaspora Studies and the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate, the 5-year £1.25 million IAA boosts the impact of SOAS’ migration and marginalisation research.

This thematically focused IAA will articulate with all aspects of SOAS’ strategies, mobilising nationally and globally urgent ground-breaking SOAS social science research on the precursors and effects of migration and displacement and of the construction of minorities and minority identities, and strengthening SOAS’ emergent and powerful decolonising partnership practices with policy, NGO and corporate sectors that result in positive action.

A range of support is offered for SOAS researchers at every stage of their careers

  • thematic roundtables that foster knowledge exchange between SOAS researchers and practitioners and policy makers
  • an annual mobility programme of short-term, high impact knowledge exchange fellowships
  • rapid response and strategic grants of £2,500 to £10,000 that support co-production of knowledge and impact-oriented outputs

SOAS researchers will also be gain expertise in knowledge exchange practices and approaches through partner-led capacity building, and will have the opportunity of showcasing their research and engage the public during the annual ESRC Festival of Social Science.
