About this event

Step into the radiant sound world of Pcha (Siaka Traoré)—the son of balafon master Neba Solo—as he brings both heritage and innovation to the stage.

Trained in the rich balafon traditions of Mali, Pcha is transforming this wooden xylophone instrument for a new generation, weaving it into Afrobeats, electronic, and pop textures.

At SOAS, he will present songs drawn from the traditional repertoire of his homeland—the melodies, rhythms and stories he grew up with—alongside Aboubacar Konaté (of the Balimaya Project) on kamalen ngoni, and Seydou Kienou on djembe and calabash.

Don’t miss this luminous evening of Malian sound and spirit.
