About this event

The Centre of Taiwan Studies is delighted to welcome Professor Rosa Lombardi to share how Taiwan Studies can expand in a European context through a dynamic interaction between research, pedagogy, and cultural dissemination.

Over the past decade, Roma Tre University has played a pioneering role in the development of Taiwan Studies in Italy, helping to establish a field that had long remained on the margins of the national academic landscape. Building on the support of Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education, Roma Tre has launched a wide range of initiatives aimed at disseminating knowledge of Taiwanese culture, history, and literature through a combination of traditional academic lectures and cultural events. These include seminars on fiction and poetry, international workshops, as well as the subtitling and screening of Taiwanese films.

The Macrocosmo Taiwan projects (2021–2023) have been particularly significant, introducing a new pedagogical model that integrates audiovisual translation into literary and cultural studies. Roma Tre’s experience highlights how Taiwan Studies can expand in a European context through a dynamic interaction between research, pedagogy, and cultural dissemination.
