Gay School: Learning Otherwise

Join us for a discussion about the radical potentiality of study and knowledge production beyond the university, led by current and former students.

Returning to the SOAS Centre for Gender Studies, where this project began, we introduce ‘Gay School’ and our practice of ‘learning otherwise.’ This session begins with a lecture that builds a theoretical framework for mobilisation. Drawing on thinkers like Sara Ahmed, Cathy J. Cohen, and Audre Lorde, we explore how to wield queer theory as a tool, challenging identity politics to forge alliances rooted in a shared relationship to power.
