Biography

Kaweh Kerami is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Development Studies at SOAS University of London, whose expertise lies in international development, particularly focusing on state-building, democratization, political settlements, and armed conflicts.

His ongoing PhD dissertation delves into the US-led state-building and democratization efforts in Afghanistan over two decades, drawing from extensive fieldwork in Kabul.  Previously, Kerami instructed undergraduate students at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) and worked as a research consultant for the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU).

He also held the position of an online producer at the BBC World Service for over three years. A native of Kabul, Kerami possesses both Dutch/EU citizenship and UK settled status. He frequently contributes to journals and online platforms in both English and Persian.

Kerami's work is motivated by his commitment to understanding and promoting sustainable development in war-affected countries.
