Biography
Dr. Kota Suechika is a scholar of Middle Eastern politics, Professor at the College of International Relations, and Director of the Center for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (CMEIS) at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.
He obtained his MA degree from the Center for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies (CMEIS) at the University of Durham and his Ph.D. from Kyoto University. His research interests focus on conflict and authoritarianism in the Middle East, with particular attention to the transnational networks of armed non-state actors.

Research interests
Dr. Suechika’s current research interests include the empirical and quantitative analysis of Iran’s regional influence over Levantine countries.
